Matariki

Last week, we were studying about Matariki. It is celebrated during the winter solstice. It means 'eyes of god' or 'little eyes'. The Maori New Year starts when the new moon rises. The Matariki stars are bigger and brighter than the other stars. It is a great time to harvest crop and collect seafood. Some people celebrate Matariki by spending time with family.
