Today at assembly each class had an item based on our Pasifika Study. Every room had a different performance. Room 1 performed a traditional Samoan dance called Sāsā.
The most interesting performance for me was Room 6. They performed a catwalk. The students were wearing traditional Samoan and Tongan clothes such as ofu loku's, puletaha, puletasi and ta'olava.
At the end of every performance we would give each class a round of applause.
Room 12 sang a song from Moana called 'How Far I'll Go'. We were nervous at the start of the song then as we came towards the end everyone started to sing louder. Everyone enjoyed the song.

Matariki
Last week, we were studying about Matariki. It is celebrated during the winter solstice. It means 'eyes of god' or 'little eyes'. The Maori New Year starts when the new moon rises. The Matariki stars are bigger and brighter than the other stars. It is a great time to harvest crop and collect seafood. Some people celebrate Matariki by spending time with family.

Practicing Our Skipping
For the last few weeks, Room 12 have been practicing their skipping. Once everyone grabbed their ropes we did ten skips forwards, backwards then side to side for warm ups. When we had finished our warm ups, we went into our groups.
The members in my group are Timote, Pate, Lupe, Dakbai and Saluselo. For our skipping routine we are practicing to do push ups. When the skipping session is almost finished, we do a skip off to see who will skip the longest.

National Milk Day
Today New Zealand is celebrating National Milk Day. This morning when we were drinking our milk, Mrs Golder said that it was National Milk Day. While everyone was drinking their milk, Meana took photos of the Room 11 and 12 students. National Milk Day has been celebrated every year on the 1st of June since 2001. On that day, we celebrate all aspects of milk.

We Are The Champions!!
In our division there were Glen Taylor, Tamaki Primary and Sylvia Park. We defeated Glen Taylor and Sylvia Park but lost to Tamaki Primary.
In our last pool match we thrashed St Patricks beating them by 7- 0. In the Semi-Finals the result was Panmure Bridge 4, Ruapotaka 0.We made the finals - everyone was excited.
In the Finals we went up against Stone Fields, which was really intense. Both teams were trying their best to win the game. But no-one won, so it ended with a draw (0-0) Dakbai scored the most goals (5) and our MVP (Most Valuable Player) was Captain Lupe.
Overall we came 1st equal. Our whole team was tired and exhausted.
We are the 2017 CHAMPIONS!
